Springing into Summer

It is almost Canada Day- July 1st- and the Spring has been gorgeous! Gardens blooming, warm balmy days, beautiful sunrises and sunsets... Not nearly enough rainfall however.

The studio has been busy and productive, lots of the awesome artworks- here are some of the recent pieces by my talented students:

While we finally had a little taste of winter (one day of snow!) the studio is still keeping warm. I have been trying to finish up a commission that is long overdue, and set new classes for the next few months.

The watercolour 1 class has finished up- what a great group!!

January flew by, with wind and rain but quite balmy temperatures.
Classes started up, first workshop happened and drop-ins continued on....
My work was displayed at the Pearl Ellis Gallery in Comox, as part of the 'Shapes and LInes' show. Now many of my students are displaying their artwork in the 44th Member's Show at the Campbell River Art Gallery. The show is remarkable-- do plan to visit if you are in the area!

The Beginning Watercolour group is doing fabulous work...

The first workshop of the year was the 'Fantastical Imaginings: Florals and Forests'. It was great fun and the art pieces were vibrant and original.

It's what November is all about here on the west coast--shorter days, lots of rain, wind blown leaves, the occasional power outage, and lighting the fireplace for the first time this fall.
The studio is staying warm and dry however, and Miro and I are busy with Acrylic Classes, fun Drop-in Sessions, working on a commission, and getting ready for the Central Island Studio Tour--- happening Nov. 22 and 23, 10 -4 daily.

Autumn is in full swing here --- how did that happen, time is flying by....
Fall classes are starting up and the studio is busy as folks get back from their summer travels and shenanigans.
I have been busy with submitting art by our Wet Paint Group. Currently we have a small show at the TOSH (Old School House Gallery) in Qualicum Beach-- www.theoldschoolhouse.org. Along with the DeCosmos Fine Art Society from Parksville and the Oceanside Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists, it is well worth a visit!! It is on until October23, 2025.

One of my drop-in artists has sent along her latest creations done with alcohol ink. Many are done on ceramic tile but some are on Yupo paper.

Summer is Here!!

Summer has arrived on the west coast- warm and dry (too dry!) but the gardens are going crazy.
I love it...
 News flash! We have a new studio kitten- meet Miro, a totally adorable male ragdoll cross.
He is following in Theo's footsteps as he loves being in the studio around all the artsy people.

And just like that...it's Spring!

So Winter has come and gone-- so quickly. Although it is still cool here in the Northwest, Spring has quite definitely sprung--flowers, shrubs, birds, and pollen!
The studio was steadily creating over the last few months and drop-in is now picking up as Snowbirds arrive back. I didn't do a large trip away this year, just a short vacation with my daughter and family to Mexico in February.
One sad event was the passing of my wonderful 'Studio Cat', Theo, last month. He was a beautiful ragamese (siamese/ragdoll cross) who charmed all the artists and visitors.

Several of my studio people submitted works into the Campbell River Member's Show at the Campbell River Art Gallery in January. It was a great showcase of local art.

The variety of art genres and styles (and talent) in the drop-in groups continue to impress me... here are a few of their creations.

End of Autumn

It is definitely the end of autumn here on the wet west coast- we've had much cooler temperatures, leafless deciduous tress and storms, even a 'Cyclone Bomb' with huge winds and torrential rain. So it is almost the Christmas season and hence the beginning of our winter.
Although I haven't posted for ages, there is still a hub of busyness and creativity here in the studio. A few of the students latest works are in the below gallery.
Last week a couple of my students and I attended the Eastside Culture Crawl in Vancouver. Once again it was fabulous, hundreds of studios and amazing art in all media and genre. Well worth the thousands of steps walking around the east side area!

The First of May

Spring is officially here! Tulips, rhodos and fruit trees are blooming (my mason bees are very busy) and the trees are a hundred shades of green. I love it!
The studio is also bursting with creativity. Here are a few of the artworks done during the drop in sessions:
