Today my studio hosted an 'altered spaces' collage workshop.
Using a strong citrus cleaner (TKO Super Concentrated Cleaner---'CitraSolve' in the States) and National Geographic magazines, we created amazing papers and collaged them into unique pieces of art! Basically I felt like I was paying it forward in a way, sharing what I had learned in a workshop with John Schevers- a most amazing mixed media and encaustic artist from Quadra Island. It is a fun, freeing, 'everyone can do it', 'every piece is brilliant' kind of process... Here are a few pics--- but most of the collages are not actually finished at this point- they need to be trimmed, varnished or waxed.

The Central Island Studio Tour was an great weekend! Despite the less than wonderful weather it was a great experience; plenty of enthusiastic art lovers, lots of questions about technique and inspiration, inquiries about classes, compliments... and several sales!! Yeah! Everyone said they were impressed by the quality of art on the tour, by the friendliness of the artists, the beautiful venues, diversity of studio styles... and the fact that it was a free, self-guided tour! Kudos all round!! Here are some photos of my studio on 'tour weekend': And in the studio after the tour weekend, work resumes...here are some of the awesome work and artists at work!!
