It's Valentine's Day, and it definitely feels like spring here on the west coast. Buds, bulbs and birds springing out ... In the studio we are starting the portrait portion of the WCIII class... very exciting. Using mannequins initially to draw head- proportions and angles etc.- and then will try 3 different approaches to portraits in watercolour: 'classic', loose (in the amazing artist Ted Nuttall fashion), and stylized (in a more graphic, colourful fashion). On my easel- I have finally finished up a couple of commission, and another 2 acrylics (one will be submitted to our local art gallery's Member's Show next month). The class with John Schevers was wonderful , and although my piece didn't turn out as we expected , I have done several other small works -- 8x10" on wood-- in this style. Totally love them!! More wonderful student work--- in progress... and painters drawing, and painting...
